High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with  HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom

At Kemps Creek Public School, we recognise that every student has high potential, and we nurture that potential to help it flourish.

Our teachers identify and respond to students’ learning needs using evidence-informed practices that challenge, extend and inspire learners.

We offer a range of learning pathways, including enrichment and extension opportunities, to ensure all students are engaged and achieving at their best.

In our classrooms, students experience a strong sense of belonging in supportive environments that encourage creativity, collaboration and confident risk-taking. Flexible grouping, student leadership and strengths-based feedback with clear learning goals empower students to take ownership of their progress.

Our teachers continually engage in professional learning to build their expertise in meeting the diverse needs of all learners, including our high potential and gifted students.

Across our school

At Kemps Creek Public School, every student is unique, and our opportunities reflect that diversity.

We celebrate talent across the creative and performing arts through school productions, choir, and dance groups.

Our performances foster teamwork and confidence.

Wellbeing is supported through Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) awards - Creek Coupons and Badges, Wellbeing Wednesdays, and opportunities for connection across the school community.

Sport is an important part of our culture, with opportunities for PSSA participation and gala days, training, coaching, and NRL and A league clinics, all supported by differentiated physical education programs that encourage every student to shine.

We provide opportunities for Year 6 to high school transition with students participating in local high school HPGE Maths tournaments and transition programs.

Everyday life at Kemps Creek is filled with curiosity and belonging—students can join clubs such as Chess and debating.

Across NSW
Statewide and NSW Department of Education support is available for high potential and gifted students, and we help with entries, preparation and reflection so every experience feeds back into learning.
